Karen lives in Sutton Benger just outside Chippenham. She is married to David and has 3 children. Karen has worked as a Market Research Consultant for over 20 years but has always loved cooking and entertaining. She is a self taught cook and has taken courses at the Lucknam Park Cookery School. Her love of making canapés is borne out of her meticulous attention to detail, her patience and a love of delicious food you can eat with your fingers.
Karen is friendly, approachable and very down to earth. She is extremely flexible in her approach and is always happy to chat through what you would like for your event or party to find that little twist that will make the food at your event just right for you. We love a theme so if you have an idea for a party then let us know the theme and we will try and invent a new and original menu just for you. We have done a pink themed party, Apres ski themed parties and Asian fusion menus to name just a few ..
The Canapé Kitchen has been awarded a 5 star food hygiene rating on each of 3 inspections and Karen has a Level 2 Food Hygiene certificate together with full employee, product and public liability insurance.
Helen White joined the team in May 2019 and is now involved in most of our larger events. Helen has previous catering experience and holds a level 2 Food Hygiene certificate. As well as assembling and serving at events Helen helps with some of the food preparation in advance of events, She is also the world's best washer upper!!
Jill Francis joined us in 2021 and comes to us with 32 years experience as a senior member of cabin crew with one of the world’s leading airlines.
Jill leads the way at our events with outstanding customer service and attention to detail, as well as bringing her experience of preparing & serving food & drink in a premium setting.
We have a large team of waiting staff who we use to supplement our team for full service events and occasions.
The Canapé Kitchen began in October 2017. In our first 2 years we catered multiple events for 20 - 120 guests and calculated that we made around 27,000 Canapes in that time! We haven't calculated the number since then as there are way more than we could possibly count, but have done many more events including:
Gin Tasting Evenings, multiple Weddings for 20 - 150, Christmas drinks parties, Garden Parties for The Holburne Museum (Bath), Business Lunches, Garden Parties for businesses and for Village events, Book Launches, countless Big Birthday Parties, funeral teas, multiple Wedding Anniveraries - Silver, Ruby, Golden and Diamond, Reunion Lunches, Summer Drinks Parties, many many Afternoon Teas, Christmas parties, New Years Eve parties, Pre Dinner Drinks Receptions, Shopping evenings, multiple open evenings/events - for a Bath Gallery, a Show Home, Retirement Apartments, an Art Gallery ... and some "just because" parties! We have even provided the Canapes for a BBC drama and have appeared live on BBC Radio Wiltshire to talk about Canapés and The Canapé Kitchen.
